THANK-YOU! The whole eagle thing really annoys me! I don’t mind the jokes but when people are being serious it makes me want to whack the books off their head! They were never the eagles burden, Gwaihir, the eagle that saved Gandalf, said he did not wish to be carrying him but would this once. Tolkien expressed that every inhabitant of arda had a right in itself, the eagles were not beasts of mans (etc) own leisure! Also people seem to forget that the reason they remain inconspicuous is to be just that! Taking to the skies is like firing a flare in the dark! What of the Crebain and the Nazgul and other spies? Sorry, I’ll calm down once people use their brains hehe
